    Job Summary

    Job Description / Nature of Work

    Performs impartial internal misconduct investigations and utilizes established methods to ensure misconduct is reported and investigated. Responsible for investigating serious policy violations that may originate from the public or within the Orlando Fire Department (OFD). Utilizes knowledge of investigative methods and techniques, laws concerning the collection and admission of evidence, interviewing techniques, and procedures for conducting interrogations and searches. Also,at times, may be asked to review, investigate, collect or disseminate data involving Equal Opportunity Employment (EEOC) issues/ concerns within the Orlando Fire Department (OFD). Performs interviews and searches and analyzes information and material to determine evidentiary value. Work is reviewed for thorough investigative techniques through reports submitted and review of investigative findings and discussions. Must be on-call during all shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of experience in internal affairs, fraud investigations, law enforcement investigations, fire investigations, private investigations, or government compliance work; or Associate’s Degree and three (3) years of experience in internal affairs, fraud investigations, law enforcement investigations, fire investigations, private investigations, or government compliance work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience . Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. Must not have been convicted of or pled no contest to any felony. Must pass Police Background and Polygraph.

    • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;

    • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
