The pay rate for Senior Recreation Leader Part-Tim e Benefitted ranges from $ 29.51 /hour to $ 35.83 /hour . The Senior Recreation Leader is the highest class in the Recreation Leader series responsible for organizing, conducting, and coordinating a variety of recreation activities. Incumbents regularly work on tasks that require discretion and independent judgment. Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives , timelines, and methods to deliver services. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following : Supervises or leads part-time recreation staff and coordinates volunteers. Each program operates from the final school dismissal bell until 6:00 pm Monday through Friday, except on school holidays and breaks (180 school days). The program provides a safe, supervised, learning environment during out-of-school time hours. Program components include homework assistance , literacy, STEAM, recreation, sports, enrichment, nutrition education, developmental assets, structured physical activities, and special events . Staff support to the Downtown Parking Board. The Board is comprised of seven members appointed by the City Council and serves as a public forum for discussion of downtown parking issues. The 24-25 fiscal year operating budget for the Parking Division’s services includes revenue projections of approximately $12 million from lots/garages and $3 million from on-street meters. The Division is supported by nearly 90 employees, both professional staff that lead programs, implement projects, and perform analytical administrative work; and field staff that provides parking compliance and meter collections/repair services. Position Duties The Department of Transportation (DOT) is looking to potentially fill three (3) vacancies for Parking/Ground Transportation Administrator. Position Duties The City of San Jose, Animal Care and Services Division is seeking Veterinarians to work at the Animal Care Center, including one Full-time,part-time, and/or relief in either/or, shelter medicine and/or the shelter’s public high quality, high volume spay/neuter clinic. The Animal Shelter Veterinarian may perform all aspects of shelter medicine in a large animal shelter. Duties may include routine spay/neuter surgeries on cats, dogs, and other animals as indicated. This position provides direct care and treatment of homeless animals entering the City of San Jose’s Animal Care Center. In addition, this position is required to diagnose, treat, and/or recommend euthanasia. Registered Veterinary Technicians will be assigned to assist this position with the preparation and post-surgery processes of spay/neuter and other surgical procedures. This is a position reporting to the Shelter Manager of Animal Care and Services. This classification is represented by City Association of Management Personnel (CAMP). Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Directs, coordinates and performs the screening, diagnosis, and basic and emergency medical treatment of animals in the shelter. Performs or supervises the visual monitoring of impounded animals, including those that may be isolated or quarantined for signs of illness or unusual behavior. Performs surgical procedures, including spay/neuters and vaccinates animals to prevent diseases. Maintains accurate medical records of animals. Effectively communicates the condition and status of animals with staff, public and animal groups. Advises staff on matters within the veterinary field. Orders, maintains and controls the drugs used at the shelter and in the field. Trains appropriate staff in administering first aide and vaccinations to animals, the performance of euthanasia and other paramedical duties. Performs and directs staff to perform euthanasia of animals that are irremediably suffering from serious illness or severe injury, as necessary Ensures that shelter staff participates in a comprehensive disease prevention program for the animal shelter. Participates in special spay/neuter or vaccination clinics. Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; providing technical guidance to staff; ensuring staff are trained; and making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations. Ensures compliance of activities to codes and all legal regulations. Physical Requirements: Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 50 pounds while handling animals and equipment. Employees may be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, loud noises, odors, dust, air contaminants, blood borne pathogens while using hypodermic needles on animals and may be exposed to animal scratches and bites. Minimum Qualifications Education A degree from an accredited college or university in Veterinary Medicine. Licensing Requirements (such as driver’s license, certifications, etc.) Valid California license to practice veterinary medicine in the State of California is required. Ability to register with the Drug Enforcement Administration for controlled substances. Valid California Driver’s License and a good driving record. (Must maintain a good driving record.) The San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility (RWF) is one of the largest advanced wastewater treatment plants in the nation serving approximately 1.4 million residents living in a 300 square mile service area. The facility treats an average of 110 million gallons of wastewater per day (mgd), with a capacity of up to 167 mgd. The Department of Public Works is recruiting for a Principal Construction Inspector in the RWF Construction Management (CM) team. The RWF CM team provides the construction management and administrative oversight of all RWF’s active Capital Improvement Projects (CIP), from implementation through project closeout The Principal Construction Inspector (PCI) responsibilities include: supervising an inspection team (both City and consultant inspectors); perform inspections of either electrical, mechanical, or civil work when project inspectors are off site; review permits, plans and specifications for constructability and budgetary purposes and for conformance to City requirements. The PCI is also responsible for assisting with coordination with various project stakeholders to ensure the clients’ interest are addressed throughout the duration of the project. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Schedule check-in meetings with the construction managers and/project managers to ensure quality of inspection work on projects are being met. Attend project progress and plant shutdown request meetings. Reviews and interprets construction plans and specifications; Perform field visit of each project on a regular basis to ensure inspection of work are being done in accordance with the contract. Reviews completed inspector daily reports in PMweb or EADOC and provide feedback to inspectors. Trains and evaluates work of subordinates. Complete annual performance appraisal of subordinates. Reviews and interprets construction plans and specifications; Research, compiles, and establishes standards and specifications for the Department of Public Works while evaluating new technologies and tools to improve efficiencies and process improvements where opportunities are available Helps to establish the training needs and procedures for the inspection staff and ensures the implementation of these policies. Provides budget review and analysis for program and project costs associated with staffing and resources needed for inspection support. Minimum Qualifications Education: Completion of High School or equivalent (General Education Development [GED] Test or California Proficiency Certificate). Experience: Nine (9) years of increasingly responsible sub-professional engineering/ construction inspection work, including three (3) years at the level of Senior Construction Inspector, Senior Engineering Technician, Party Chief, or equivalent. Acceptable Substitutions: Completion of a terminal curriculum in engineering technology equivalent to that given in an accredited California junior college or two (2) years of college engineering courses may be substituted for two (2) years of the required remaining experience. Required Licensing: Possession of a valid State of California Driver’s License. About the Department The City Manager’s Office provides strategic leadership, which supports the Mayor and City Council while motivating the organization to deliver high-quality services that meet the community’s needs. The City Manager’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is responsible for preparing the City and the community to effectively respond to natural, technological, and human-caused disasters while coordinating with the Santa Clara County Operational Area, the State of California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Maintenance and activation of the Emergency Operations Center and the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) are primary tools utilized by OEM. In addition, OEM provides disaster planning, training, and recovery assistance to City departments, including state-mandated Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) classes for the Emergency Operations Center staff, Department Operations Center staff, and elected officials. To be comprehensive, OEM continuously monitors state and federal legislation that directly impacts the provisions of emergency services to the community. Position Duties An Emergency Coordinator is an entry-level position in the City Manager’s Office of Emergency Management. The position reports to either the Director or Deputy Director of OEM. The EOC Readiness Coordinator - Temporary position is a 3 - 4-month limit-dated position, With a tentative start date of October 27, 2024. The incumbent will shadow and train with the current EOC Readiness Coordinator, who is anticipated to retire from City service in January 2025. The EOC Readiness Coordinator - Temporary position was created specifically to ensure a smooth transition and eliminate the potential for any gaps in service, as the EOC Readiness Coordinator position is critical to the City of San José’s emergency preparedness, response, and recovery operations. The EOC Readiness Coordinator - Temporary would be responsible for supporting operations, logistics, maintenance, and administration of the City of San José’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Alternate EOC, and Office of Emergency Management (OEM).
