The Position CSUDH seeks to hire a full-time (academic year), tenure-track assistant professor to be jointly housed in the Departments of Women’s Studies (WMS) and Communications - Film, Television, and Media (FTVM) with a specialization in Black Feminist Media Studies. We are seeking an experienced teacher-scholar in: the politics of Black representation in film, television, and media; the uses of media to advocate for feminism and activate social change; and the roles of race, gender, and sexuality in media production. The successful candidate will teach courses such as WMS 314: Feminism and Film; WMS 380: Gender, Sexuality and Popular Culture; COM 130: Intro to Film; COM 375: Media & Representation; COM 379: Media Industries. The successful candidate will also develop lower- and upper-level courses in their area(s) of specialty. Qualifications Required Qualifications Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds. A PhD in Film/Media Studies or Women’s and Gender Studies (or related field to either) by the start of the Fall 2025 semester. Demonstrated teaching experience, research publications, and/or graduate certificate/coursework in Black Feminist Media Studies. About the Department/Position: Under general supervision of the Associate Registrar, the Transfer Credit Evaluator will perform evaluation duties for the Transfer Credit Unit Department. The incumbent will analyze, interpret, and apply provisions of Title 5 of California administrative code and university policies relating to applications, admissions, and/or transfer credit. In addition, the incumbent will gather and organize resources, review and document business processes. will work collaboratively with other Evaluators to maintain productivity and quality. Evaluate courses in satisfaction of specific non-traditional credit, university general education and statutory requirements. This position will be commensurate with experience and current CSUDH faculty salaries in the academic department/discipline.
