The City of Fresno is the largest city in the San Joaquin Valley and the fifth largest city in California, with a population of more than 545,000 residents. Wastewater Treatment Plant Technicians operate and maintain Wastewater Treatment Plant equipment and facilities. Incumbents are responsible for the operation of a modern Class V secondary wastewater treatment plant. Incumbents may be assigned to work any shift and may be required to work holidays and weekends. This is a flexibly-staffed series, which allows incumbents to flex to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Specialist after obtaining the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade II Certificate. The probationary period for employees in this classification shall be up to eighteen (18) months, at the discretion of management. An employee in this series must serve a minimum one (1) year probationary period.
