    The Alternative Pathway for Part-Time/Exempt Employees creates an opportunity for current part-time and exempt City employees to obtain regular, full-time employment with the City of Los Angeles. The program is divided into two phases: 6 months of on-the-job training (Trainee phase), followed by a 6-month probationary period (Assistant phase). After successful completion of the probation period, the individual will then transition into the targeted civil service classification. Please note that the starting salary may vary; however the salary for the 'Trainee' and 'Assistant' classifications are generally equivalent to the salary for the Targeted, Civil Service classification. Salary placement will be calculated in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding and the Administrative Code.

    REQUIREMENT(S)/MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S)

    Current employment with the City of Los Angeles; and 2,080 continuous work hours in a position that performs duties related to one of the targeted, civil service classifications.
    PROCESS NOTES:

    Employment with the City of Los Angeles must have begun on or before June 30, 2022.Applicants who are not employed in one of the targeted classifications must submit with their application a “Verification of Work Experience” (VWE) form with the required signatures, verifying their experience in a part-time and/or exempt position performing duties related to the specific pathway for which they are applying. The VWE form should indicate the type of work performed and the amount of time spent performing such work. This form may be obtained on-line at http://per.lacity.org/exams/vwe-sup.pdf . Please visit https://tinyurl.com/2p869jsb to see an example of how to properly complete the VWE form. Applicants may attach the completed VWE form to their on-line application at the time of filing, or will have seven (7) calendar days from the on-line submission date to email a copy of their completed VWE form, including the required signatures, to lalocalhire@lacity.org . The subject line of the applicant’s email must include the classification title, their name and indicate it is a VWE. In the body of the email, they must also include their first and last name, last four digits of their Social Security Number and contact phone number. Applicants who fail to submit their signed VWE form within the time required will not be considered further in this examination and their applications will not be processed.Applicants who are employed in one of the targeted classifications must include their position title, dates of employment, and a description of their duties in the work experience section of the application. Applicants employed in one of the targeted classifications do not need to submit a VWE described in Note 2.Applicants will only be eligible for hire into the career pathway in which they received training and successfully performed duties during their current part-time and/or exempt employment with the City of Los Angeles.Language access/interpreter services will be provided to applicants when requested.
