    Major Duties

    Under general supervision of the Chair of Communication Disorders and Sciences, the Staff Audiologist provides professional clinical services in auditory testing, vestibular testing, and hearing aid dispensing offered to clients and their families at the CSUN Language, Speech and Hearing Center. The incumbent assumes an essential role for participating as a preceptor for on-campus practice placements for the students in the Doctor of Audiology Program in the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences, and provides advisory input for the Center’s audiology budget and on policies and procedures for scheduling (clients, students, and preceptors).
    • Provides audiology and hearing aid services including, but not limited to, screening and diagnostic assessments of hearing, test of peripheral and central auditory function, tests of vestibular function, hearing aid dispensing, and follow-up services for hearing aids and other auditory amplification devices.
    • Manages the electronic medical record system (EMR), maintenance recordkeeping of student clinical clock hours, recordkeeping/ordering of inventory for the audiology clinic.
    • Leads and oversees the day-to-day operations of clinical services in Audiology, such as maintenance of client files in the electronic medical record system (EMR) or electronic health record system (EHR).
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    • Master’s degree or equivalent in audiology from an educational institution approved by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board AND equivalent to two (2) years of clinical audiology work OR equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
    • Possess and maintain a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Audiology awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association AND a valid audiology and hearing aid dispensing license from the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board.


    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of clinical audiology work; speech and hearing anatomy and the pathologies involved in generics, diseases or injuries resulting in disorders of hearing and balance; current literature in the audiology field; and applicable state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of audiology and patient confidentiality.
    • Ability to effectively perform patient audiology evaluations and therapeutic interventions and demonstrate techniques to students; initiate and develop quality standards and protocols to ensure accuracy in tests; effectively use equipment for evaluations and therapeutic interventions including, but not limited to, screening and diagnostic assessments of hearing, test of peripheral and central auditory function, tests of vestibular function, hearing aid dispensing, follow-up services for hearing aids and other auditory amplification devices, assessment and management of tinnitus, auditory rehabilitation and (central) auditory processing; communicate effectively with patients, parents, faculty, and staff and write professional-level reports and correspondence; plan, organize, and coordinate clinical operational activities; supervise students; maintain patient confidentiality as required by applicable state and federal laws and regulations; maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and parents; and be sensitive to and communicate effectively with diverse patients, parents, and students.
    • Ability to establish business practices including adhering to business budget and practice plans, ability to perform data collection for established key performance indicators ( KPIs ). Knowledge of billing and management of reimbursement, participation with an electronic medical record system or electronic health record system, and basic contract management. Working knowledge of (audiology) equipment purchases, variables associated with equipment maintenance, and management of inventory needs for an active clinical practice.


    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
    • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
    • Classification/grade: 7976 / Speech Pathologist / 1
    • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $5937 - $9142, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5937 - $11,459 per month.
    • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.
    • REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
    • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
