Job Description

East/Southeast Regional Forensic Mobile Team- Diversion Recovery Coach

The Diversion Recovery Coach (DRC) will participate as a member of a Forensic Mobile Team. As a member, the DRC will coordinate among numerous programs and partners to divert adult individuals who have behavioral health needs, from criminal justice detention to appropriate evidence based programs in the community. The Forensic Mobile Team serves counties in the Central, Eastern, and Southeast regions of Missouri. The DRC will provide recovery-based coaching, community support, competency restoration services and case management services.

Performance expectations include, but are not limited to:

  • The DRC will work as a member of the Forensic Mobile Team. The position requires considerable travel. Because duties of the team are mobile, overnight travel may be required to reach individuals in counties distant to the team member’s primary residence.
  • All mobile team members are required to maintain a valid driver’s license and driving will be required.
  • The DRC must maintain all requirements of any professional licensure, continuing education, and professional regulations.
  • The DRC will conduct functional assessments, progress evaluations, and will be responsible for contributing interventions to the recovery plan.
  • The DRC may be familiar a variety of evidence based practices such as DBT, CBT, SFBT, supportive psychotherapy, and motivational interviewing.
  • Client contacts will be required via various formats including face to face, phone, text, video, and formal telehealth. Mobile services will require visits to residential programs or to the home. The DRC will be directly responsible for accomplishing regular rehabilitation contacts and recovery coaching. Coaching calls will at times require client contacts outside standard business hours.
  • The DRC will collaborate with other team members and multiple community partners to assure the coordination of all services and supports necessary to assure appropriate diversion.
  • The DRC must formulate progress notes, complete assessment tools, and other forms of documentation.
  • Considerable travel, rotating 24- hour call duties, possible overnight travel.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license, as driving is required.
  • Must maintain all requirements of professional licensure, continuing education, collaborative practice, nursing scope of practice, and professional regulations.
  • Will conduct functional assessments, progress evaluations, and will be responsible for contributing interventions to the recovery plan.
  • Demonstrate competence in the provision of a variety of evidence based practices such as DBT, CBT, SFBT, supportive psychotherapy, and motivational interviewing.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications include: The Diversion Recovery Coach preferred degree in social work, psychology or other closely related field. Experience in community mental health, forensic mental health and substance use disorders is required. Individuals with case management and psychiatric rehabilitation experience will receive preferential consideration. Specialized licensure or certification is also preferred.
