Customer Service Representative - Recreation Centers

Salary: $15.00/hour

General Description and Classification Standards:

This position is responsible for assisting with the execution of recreation operations and scheduling responsibilities while ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organized environment for patrons during recreation programming. Candidates will work to continue our commitment to our customers and patrons assisting them every step of the way to guarantee a great recreation experience. Candidates must be able to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Supervision Received:

Works under minimal supervision; can set own work sequence and pace within process/department limitations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures proper inspection of the facilities daily prior to the start of programming and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the facility is in a safe working order.
  • Answers the phones and provides customers with proper information upon their request.
  • iPARCS check-in, membership intake, and participant enrollment i.e. CBF, OST, and Memberships.
  • Assist with building rentals information and facility tours..
  • Monitor building to make sure that all areas are secure and being used properly by the customers utilizing the facility.
  • Ensuring that all areas are maintained to the department cleanliness expectation,
  • Work cooperatively with Recreation Center administration and staff.
  • Monitors facility usage including special events, programs and building rentals.
  • Reports any maintenance problems to the Department Manager or Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide support to recreation center staff, program organizers, volunteers, and/or other participants.

Based on customer contact, the candidate determines appropriate step to assist with issue, take action, or refer to other source. Selects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list.

Ability to use customer service software and other departmental information systems in responding to inquiries or requests. Ability to read instructions, processes, or regulations. Ability to communicate with a variety of customers and constituents in a professional manner. Ability to listen and determine nature of performs related work as required. Knowledgeable of all applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of working with youth. General knowledge of recreation, recreation program and special events.

Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in handling emergency situations. Able to effectively interact with management, employees, members of the general public and all other groups involved in the City’s recreation activities.

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required
  • 6 months of experience in a customer facing role.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License at time of hire
  • As a part of the background check process; a current driving record report will be requested
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment


Preferred - Education and Experience:

CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications
