    The Position

    Community Health Nurses provide professional nursing services requiring licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and/or Registered Nurse in clinics, homes, schools and other community settings.

    Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.

    The Division of Public and Behavioral Health: Community Health Nursing is recruiting for a Community Health Nurse 4 in Pahrump, NV. The APRN provides preventive and direct service delivery, education and counseling services. Incumbents provide reproductive health services, initiate a medical record and obtain health information including specimen and sample collection. Incumbents identify and treat communicable disease, conduct health screenings, analyze and interpret test results, and participate in public health initiatives including vaccine administration at points of distribution (PODS) and response to pandemic or other disease outbreaks. The APRN conducts infant and child health assessments and counseling, perform physical and developmental screenings and administer immunizations. Incumbents consult and collaborate with organizations and agencies in the community to encourage health, wellness and disease prevention. As an APRN with community/public health experience the incumbent will work with community health nurses throughout rural Nevada, providing consultation and orders following established protocols. This position may provide services on behalf of and at multiple sites statewide to support the Division and Rural Community Health Services.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), including Active Prescribing designation, with certification in Women's Health or Family Practice, OR an APRN, including Active Prescribing designation and one year of experience in a women's health or family practice setting. Special Notes A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. Certification and Licensure must be included with the employment application. Licensure from the State of Nevada is required at the time of appointment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
