RoleUnder close supervision, performs skilled installation of new traffic control devices and the inspection and maintenance of existing traffic control devices in County rights-of-way.
Major Duties, Responsibilities- Observes, reports, and repairs damaged traffic control devices, obstructions to sign view, and other potential safety hazards in an accurate timely manner.
- Removes and/or replaces traffic control devices that are outdated or missing.
- Verifies reports of damaged or missing traffic control devices, making emergency repair calls after regular working hours.
- Maintains traffic control device inventory and equipment service records.
- Keeps records of traffic control device types and locations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of experience in field service with use of hand and power tools.
Additional Requirements: Must possess or obtain a valid Arizona Class A Commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement within 1 year of employment.

- Attend and pass any scheduled traffic control training classes, coordinated by the County that directly relates to the position.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
- Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
- Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
- Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
- Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
Work Environment:The work environment is associated with a workshop and field environment year-round in all weather conditions and includes exposure to loud noise, machinery, dust, fumes, mist, and chemicals.
Physical Requirements:Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials, a computer screen and mobile device; hearing and speech ability to communicate effectively in-person and by phone. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, walk over rough, uneven, and/or rocky surfaces, and lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance.
