Salary Range: $22.61-$34.48/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
The REACHKC program is a new incarceration diversion initiative. Pre-arrest diversion (PAD) programs offer eligible adults the opportunity to avoid a formal criminal arrest record and its associated negative consequences. These programs focus on diverting individuals who have committed low-level legal violations and are deemed a minimal risk to public safety away from the criminal justice system.
- Acts as rapid responders to individuals in crisis, aiming to divert them from incarceration and into community support networks.
- Responds directly to calls from emergency responders, law enforcement, and community members, arriving on scene to provide resources to those in crisis.
- Works non-traditional hours and comfortable working with individuals from marginalized communities, including those suffering from addiction and homelessness.
- Responds to urgent calls from the community to support individuals in crisis.
- Identifies and provides immediate crisis needs.
- Provides crisis intervention services in partnership with law enforcement and community resource providers.
- Offers support in situations involving mental health, substance misuse, homelessness, and more.
- Connects individuals to formal and informal resources to prevent ongoing crises, providing emotional support, advocacy, and resource connections for the community.
- Supports law enforcement in reducing non-emergency deployments.
- Maintains required records and prepares assigned reports, collecting and maintaining documentation of all contacts and progress with participants, patients, and visitors.
- Works with confidential information/data needed to carry out responsibilities, adhering to strict program, local, state, and federal confidentiality policies.
- Engages with city residents, visitors, community stakeholders, and clients who are referred to the program, providing referrals and advocating for their needs.
- Assists in neighborhood canvassing, personal visits, social service agency outreach, house meetings, and phoning.
- Provides basic information to the public and community organizations concerning specific public health problems, needs, and concerns.
- Delivers speeches and assists in writing reports and articles to stimulate public interest.
- Disseminates information to the community regarding special public health programs.
- Understands the principles and practices of public health administration.
- Understands fundamental principles and practices of the program assignment.
- Performs applicable research techniques, methods, and procedures.
- Interprets and makes decisions in conformance with established laws, regulations, and policies properly.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and submits oral and written reports.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, municipal officials, other agencies, the general public and medical care providers.
- Presents technical material in a clear precise manner that can be easily understood by a variety of groups.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree; OR a High School Diploma and 4 years of experience in private, public, or community healthcare, community sanitation, health inspections, health education, data analysis, or related healthcare fields. Must pass a preemployment drug screen and post offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
