    JOB SUMMARY

    Title: Pathway Coordinator of Practicum Education, Department of the School of Social Work (in San Bernardino, CA)

    Department: School of Social Work

    Time Base: 12 month, 40 hours per week

    Status: Temporary, benefited, position through the State (Position may be renewed annually based on available funding and satisfactory performance)

    Work Schedule: This position supports students and instructors in our Pathways MSW Distance Education (online) Program. The position itself is an on-campus position and does require occasional evening and weekend availability.

    TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

    Practicum Education (60%)
    • All Practicum Coordinator positions report to the Director of the School of Social Work and work closely with the Director and Associate Director of Practicum Education.
    • The Practicum Coordinator is responsible for developing, overseeing, and managing practicum placements for students in the Pathways MSW Distance Education Program (online) and for students in other BASW and MSW programs as needed.
    • The Practicum Coordinator will develop and implement practicum placements for Pathways MSW students, including initiating partnerships, ensuring practicum placement agencies meet all requirements, and initiating and monitoring contract development through execution.
    • The Practicum Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all aspects of practicum curriculum and policy meet CSWE, university and school standards for student placement, instruction, student and liaison support, performance evaluation, and recordkeeping and documentation.
    • The Practicum Coordinator will work with School of Social Work faculty and agency practicum instructors to develop and ensure that the CSWE competencies upon which the MSW and BASW program are based are integrated into classroom, seminar curriculum, and agency learning experiences.
    • The Practicum Coordinator will regularly assess students’ performance in practicum and implement corrective action as specified by School, university, and agency policies, and will make appropriate referrals to School, university and community resources.

    Teaching (20%)
    • The Practicum Coordinator will be assigned to teach one class each semester. Practicum Coordinators will likely be assigned to teach classes directly related to practicum including, but not limited to micro practice courses and practicum seminars.

    Service (20%)
    • The Practicum Coordinator represents the MSW Pathway Distance Education program at all School of Social Work faculty and curriculum committee meetings, as well as at any relevant college and university meetings.
    • The Practicum Coordinator represents the School of Social Work and the MSW Pathway Distance education program at relevant local, regional, state and national meetings.
    • The Practicum Coordinator reviews MSW and/or BASW applications and may be assigned to serve on the School’s admissions committee.
    • The Practicum Coordinator represents the MSW Pathways Distance Education program at all School, university, and agency events at which Pathways students are required to attend.
    • The Practicum Coordinator represents the Practicum Education team on Student Review Committees, Scholarship/Awards Committees, and at other student award or disciplinary processes.
    • The Practicum Coordinator conducts classroom visits with instructors of practicum related courses, including practicum seminars and micro practice courses.

    Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited social work program
    • Two years post M.S.W. experience required
    • Experience working with diverse groups.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Degree in hand by time of appointment. (specify degree or degrees).
    • Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited social work program.
    • Two years post M.S.W. experience required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
      • LCSW preferred.
      • Experience as a practicum (field) instructor or university practicum liaison preferred.
      • Administrative skills and experience are preferred.
      • Familiarity in communicating and teaching in person and in an online environment is preferred.
      • Experience interacting with community partners and working in a team environment is preferred.

    Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.
