    California State University San Marcos expects to hire up to two (2) tenure-track assistant professors for Fall 2025 with an expertise in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Social Psychology. The Psychology department at California State University San Marcos serves over 2000 students, offering two in-person bachelor’s degrees (Psychological Science and Child and Adolescent Development) and a Master’s degree Psychological Science. The department employs a teacher-scholar model (with tenure-line faculty teaching a 3-3 load), emphasizing psychology as an empirical science and the development of skills that include written and oral communication, information literacy, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and critical analysis of complex problems. Multicultural perspectives and ethical issues are integral to the department’s curriculum.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field prior to date of appointment (ABD applicants accepted; PhD Confirm required by hired date)
    • Only candidates with active research programs that can involve students will be considered.
    • Applicants must have demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence at the university level (e.g., student evaluations/summaries, peer observation summaries), and must be able to supervise Master’s theses.
    • Applicants must be able to teach courses in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Social Psychology.

    Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
    • Evidence of experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
    • The area of research focus is open, with a preference for the ability to teach needed courses within the existing department curriculum, particularly the following courses (in addition to Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Social Psychology): undergraduate statistics, undergraduate research methods, careers in psychology, psychology of work and the family, Master’s level statistics, Master’s level research methods, and courses with an emphasis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion issues.
    • Demonstrated intercultural competence with diverse groups in teaching, research and/or service.

    Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $7,250- $7,700 per month

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,221- $13,224 per month
