    • Data Analysis & Reporting: Support the Reporting and Decision Support team with student and faculty data analysis, and respond to data requests from campus and external units.
    • Dashboard Development: Create and maintain dashboards that provide clear, actionable insights for university stakeholders.
    • Data Management: Manage and validate data from sources such as PeopleSoft HCM and Campus Solutions, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
    • Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and submit essential data files, including Chancellor's Office faculty workload and ERS data.
    • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with the Student Success Analytics group to support key data initiatives.

    Position Information
    • This is a full-time, temporary position ending on March 31, 2025.
    • This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
    • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

    Department Summary

    As part of the Provost’s Office, Academic Affairs encompasses the seven colleges of SDSU, SDSU-Imperial Valley, the Library, Graduate Studies, Global Campus, and the offices of Faculty Advancement and Student Success, Curriculum and Assessment, International Affairs, and Enrollment Services. The Provost oversees academic goals, educational policy, curriculum planning and development, program planning and quality control, instructional and faculty development, student educational services, external funding support, resource allocations, personnel actions pertaining to faculty and academic staff, collective bargaining, facilities management, the University Senate and all matters that affect the academic environment. The Provost and Senior Vice President serves as spokesperson to the community on matters of academic concern and as President in the absence of the President, and acts as the President's designee on campus, local, regional, state, and California State University System committees. Search committees for new deans of colleges and deans' administrative review panels are coordinated by the Provost’s Office.

    The mission of San Diego State University’s Analytic Studies & Institutional Research (ASIR) is to broadly support Academic Affairs including academic colleges, Enrollment Services, Faculty Advancement & Student Success, Academic Financial Operations, and other divisions with information to inform decision-making. To do so, ASIR leverages available technical resources and staff expertise to ensure data integrity, develop data tools, build partnerships, promote data literacy, conduct in-depth analyses, and activate predictive modeling for operational and strategic needs that support campus decision-making. ASIR’s fundamental charge is to collect, review, and validate student and faculty data for the Enrollment Reporting System (ERS), Academic Planning DataBase (APDB) and other mandated federal, state and system requirements.

    Education and Experience

    Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

    Key Qualifications
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with business intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI).
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to learn new software tools.
    • Project management skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to address data needs.
    • Experience with reporting, data reconciliation, and data analysis is preferred.
    • Experience with information systems in an educational setting is preferred.
    • Familiarity with higher education institutions and their related data and policies is preferred.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,938 per month.

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

    This position is eligible for ACA (medical only) benefits.

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,879 - $7,488 per month.
