    Job Description

    Location: Central Office; 123 Robert S Kerr Ave OKC, OK/Remote

    Salary: up to $27.19/hour based on education and experience

    Full Time /Part Time: Part time

    Work Schedule: Monday to Friday

    Primary Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with flexibility up to 19 hours per week

    Position Description:

    This part-time temporary telework position that supports the Oklahoma Central Cancer Registry (OCCR) by collecting and maintaining complete, timely and high-quality cancer data from various Oklahoma health facilities. Data are collected in accordance with Oklahoma Law and according to the standards set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-National Program for Cancer Registries and the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries. The hourly rate is up to $27.19 based on education and experience and up to 20 hours per week.

    Duties:

    Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Assist OCCR functions to consolidate reported cancer cases, review duplicate cases, case finding, abstracting cancer information from hospital records, cleaning data through edits and completing follow up for cases reported through death certificates.
    • Process and maintain tumor-specific and demographic information related to cancer cases in the OCCR database.
    • Provide support to a federally and state legislatively mandated surveillance system and encourage compliance with Oklahoma State Statutes regarding the reporting of cancer cases.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Other Duties
    • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
    • Works effectively in team environment, participating and assisting their peers.


    Special Requirements

    Part-time teleworking position. Employees will be required to follow the OSDH telework policy and maintain strict confidentiality. This position requires long period of sitting and daily use of the computer and phone. Position requires employees to have their own computer that will be used to remotely access the OCCR/OSDH network and must have home internet speeds of at least 100mbps.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    High school diploma and four (4) years’ experience working with cancer registry data OR an associate degree from a Health Information Management (HIM) program, certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and two (2) years’ experience working with cancer registry data.

    Current certification as a Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) is required. Preference will be given to applicants with two or more years’ post ODS-C certification.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    Work is typically performed within a climate-controlled setting with exposure to moderate noise level. Occasionally more extreme settings will be encountered. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to: talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, carry light items, and drive an automobile. This position requires periods of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. Applicants must be willing to perform all job-related travel associated with this position. Occasional in and out of state overnight and weekend travel may be required.

    Telework: This position is fully remote and is subject to OSDH policy and supervisor’s discretion.
