    Job Description

    Wage Instructor I - sUAS Pilot

    4 Positions to be Filled

    Part-Time (temporary/casual staff)

    $50.00/hour

    The instructor/sUAS Pilot assists with development and delivery of TEEX-LAW small Unmanned Aerial Systems training program courses. Serves as a UAS instructor and subject matter expert for the sUAS program. Duties include flight operations, training course delivery, and assisting with curriculum development. Interfaces with representatives of TEEX Divisions as well as outside entities and course participants.

    This position reports to the sUAS Program Training Manager.

    Required Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Four Years of experience in a first responder related field.
    • sUAS Flight experience.


    Required Licenses/Certifications:
    • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
    • Must have a valid passport or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
    • FAA CFR Part 107 certification - Remote Pilot.
    • Texas Commission on Law Enforcement - Basic Instructor Certification or equivalent.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Two years of experience managing a manned or unmanned public safety flight unit.
    • 200 + hours logged sUAS flight time.
    • Ten years of experience in a first responder related field.
    • TCOLE Advanced Instructor Certification or equivalent.
    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college.


    Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to travel in and out of the U.S.A.
    • Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
    • Must be able to conduct training indoors/outdoors in all-weather.
    • Must be able to lift and carry light, moderate, and heavy training materials and support equipment.
    • Must be able to drive long distances.


    Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
    • Must be able to manipulate training equipment.
    • Ability to facilitate course content and demonstrate sUAS procedures or related content.
    • Knowledge of the sUAS operations, FAA regulations, and public safety sUAS best practices.
    • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff.
    • Knowledge of basic office software and instructional programs.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
    • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
    • Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies.
    • Ability to comprehend and express information and useinductive and deductive reasoning.


    Notifications:
    • This position is security sensitive.
    • This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
    • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.
    • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.
    • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.
    • This position allows telecommuting per TEEX guidelines.
    • This is a wage position established to accommodate a temporary organizational need. As such, TEEX does not guarantee any set number of hours or length of employment in this role.
    • This position may require domestic and international travel.


    Essential Duties, Tasks and Percentages:

    Training Site Preparation - 50%
    • Prepares training site as required to support training.
    • Reviews IG to prepare for course delivery.
    • Reviews power point for accuracy and correct content.
    • Ensures all required classroom materials are available prior to class.


    Course Instruction - 40%
    • Arrives one hour before the course is scheduled to begin to ensure the room is set up and to greet arriving participants.
    • Follows approved curriculum course outline and timelines.
    • Performs all course exercises as explained by Instructor Guide.
    • Ensures all participants have achieved the terminal objects of the course.


    After Action Meeting - 10%
    • Notes curriculum or presentation slide deficiencies.
    • Notes any improvements.
    • Attends hot wash post-delivery.
    • Provides improvements for training coordinator.
