Full-time position available with the Mayor's Office located at 414 East 12th Street
Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with experience and education
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with some additional days/hours outside of that as needed.

Responsibilities
- Serves as a liaison with the Kansas City Police Department, County Prosecutor's Office, County public safety officials, state Department of Public Safety, U.S. Department of Justice and related federal partners including White House officials.
- Represents the Mayor's Office on the SAVE KC Board of Directors.
- Serves as a liaison with crime prevention and criminal justice advocates and local organizations.
- Serves as a liaison with national groups like the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Everytown for Gun Safety, and Moms Demand Action.
- Manages and prepare Mayor's Office priorities and engagement with the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners.
- Manages and develops Mayor's Office initiatives and policies in violence prevention, criminal enforcement, and criminal justice policy areas.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Master's degree in criminal justice, sociology, or other relevant fields. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree will be considered if they have strong prior experience. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise reports, recommendation, and correspondence. Comfortable with speaking to the public. Strong interest in politics and public service. Strong work ethic, ability to balance competing priorities while completing work on tight timelines. Project Management experience.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
