Why you’ll love this position:The Railroad Intern performs routine entry-level activities in areas related to railroad program administration, including the administration of state and federal funding for operational and capital expenditures to entities that provide transportation services. Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.
- Participate in passenger rail planning, promotion, and outreach. Look for creative ways to improve ridership and the customer experience onboard the train and at the stations.
- Develop innovative railroad safety programs and events.
- Planning and delivery of railroad safety crossing projects.
- Participate in on-site review of railroad crossings, passenger rail equipment and stations.
- Create databases, spreadsheets, charts and graphs using current technology to support recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications: - Must be enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program; for engineering candidates, program must be ABET-accredited.
- Must possess, and maintain, an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher out of 4.0.
- Must have completed at least 30 credit hours.
Special Working Conditions: - This is a wage, non-benefits eligible position, working no more than 1,039 hours per year.
- The typical working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
