Why you’ll love this position: The Bureau of Data Modernization and Interoperability is currently recruiting for a Public Health Program Associate. We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual who has strong written and oral communication skills, is capable of working in a team environment, and can interact with a diverse group of audiences. This position will be responsible for assisting with Missouri’s public health response efforts by providing support to Local Public Health Agencies (LPHAs) and other health care providers with respect to their reporting needs to Missouri's various public health systems. This includes providing assistance with Missouri's immunization information system, ShowMeVax; Missouri's reportable conditions system, ShowMe WorldCare; and the state's syndromic surveillance system, ESSENCE.
- Provide customer service for Missouri’s public health data reporting systems
- Respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Conduct job duties while exercising compliance with HIPAA regulations and the appropriate level of health privacy
- Organize and prioritize issues to ensure satisfactory resolutions for system users
- Exercise significant independence and initiative in the performance of responsibilities
- Assist LPHAs, health care providers and other system users in their data reporting and troubleshooting needs
- Review data received by DHSS through manual submissions, electronic health records, and/or HL7 messages for errors and provide troubleshooting feedback to LPHAs or providers
- Assist in other public health response efforts as needed
Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma or proof of high school equivalency
- Four or more years of experience in public health, mental health, environmental health, education, social services, public or business administration, health care, and/or health care administration OR a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- A valid driver’s license
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with customer service in a healthcare setting is preferred, but not required
