    Position Summary

    The Associate Athletic Director for Compliance (AADC) reports to the Dean of Students/Associate Vice President for Student Affairs (DOS). The AADC is responsible for overseeing, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating all facets of Sacramento State's Athletic Compliance program to ensure institutional control and conform to industry best practices. This position will be directly involved in the educational, monitoring, and investigating process to create, ensure, and promote an atmosphere of compliance, as well as being involved in any other areas that will further enhance the compliance effort as a whole. The position works closely with the Athletic Director and Faculty Athletic Representative and provides supervision for three full-time compliance staff and two-three Athletic Compliance interns. The AADC manages a budget of $250,000. This position works with representatives of the Big Sky and other affiliate Conferences, and the NCAA. Additionally, the AADC is a member of the Athletics Advisory Committee.

    FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation. This position is eligible for full benefits.)

    Anticipated Hiring Range: $7,916 monthly - $9,000 monthly, commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training

    Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Hours may vary depending on operations. May include occasional evenings and weekends.

    The program of intercollegiate athletics is organized and conducted as an integral part of the total educational program of the University. Academic excellence and athletic accomplishments go hand in hand at Sacramento State. There are three separate and unique missions in this program: to contribute to the educational objectives of the University; to provide a healthy, competitive athletic experience to individual student-athletes; to serve as a public relations vehicle within the community.

    Required Qualifications

    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in higher education, sports management, business administration, law, or related field
    Experience:
    Five (5) or more years of experience in the area of Compliance for intercollegiate athletics at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level Experience handling CAA Compliance issues and concerns with internal and external constituents, such as institutional staff members, athletic donors, campus partners and the community Experience presenting and creating information regarding NCAA Compliance rules, regulations and policies Two (2) or more years of supervisory or management experience Experience with compiling, preparing, writing, and reviewing reports Experience with conducting thorough investigations with confidentiality and discretion
    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NCAA and Conference (e.g. Big Sky, WAC, Big West, and American Athletic) rules, regulations, policies and processes related to compliance (e.g. eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, and institutional control) Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills to handle a high-volume workload and meet multiple deadlines Effective communication skills Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain composure and professionalism Strong computer skills with the ability to use web-based compliance software (e.g. ARMS Athletics software) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to provide appropriate solutions Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external constituents Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.
