- Receives and reviews felony case filing materials, carefully examining the evidence, witness statements, and the nature of the crime to make independent filing decisions on whether to continue prosecution.
- Conducts legal research and prepares reports, contributing to the development of recommendations related to the District Attorney's Office policies, procedures, and operations.
- Represents the County in felony-level criminal proceedings, including case scheduling, plea negotiations, probation revocation hearings, motions, and sentencing hearings.
- Serves as the prosecuting attorney for both jury and court trials, ensuring justice is pursued effectively and efficiently.

- Handle all felony-level sexual offenses, as well as cases involving fatal child abuse and child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.
- Exercise independent discretion and judgment in determining work procedures and methods.
- Ideally, have prior experience in managing felony-level cases.
QualificationsDepending on qualifications, this position could hire as Deputy District Attorney III or IV.
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required for a Deputy District Attorney III will be eliminated from the process.
Deputy District Attorney III - Deputy District Attorney III positions are generally filled by advancement of a Deputy District Attorney II or similarly qualified candidate.
- Equivalent to a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school required.
- Current license to practice law in Colorado, or obtain it within two (2) months of hire required.
Deputy District Attorney IV - Deputy District Attorney IV positions are generally filled by the advancement of a Deputy District Attorney III or similarly qualified candidate.
- Equivalent to a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school required.
- Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado.
