Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Flexible Hours and Hybrid Work Schedule Available.

Responsibilities
- Conducts all audit work in accordance with rigorous requirements of the Government Auditing Standards.
- Assists in planning audits, including establishing scope, determining objectives, planning work to meet those objectives, and establishing and meeting time schedules.
- Determines the compliance of City departments' practices with the City Charter, Administrative Code, Administrative Regulations, management policies, and state and federal laws.
- Reviews City departments' operations and procedures to determine the adequacy of internal controls.
- Collects and analyzes data and other information to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of City departments, programs, and activities.
- Examines accounting and other records to verify collection of revenues, cash balances, contract compliance, inventories, and legality of expenditures.
- Applies appropriate research and analytical tools and methods.
- Interviews City employees to ascertain program operations, outcomes, and internal controls.
- Prepares work papers which record and summarize information obtained, methods used, and conclusions reached.
- Assists in the preparation of written reports of audit findings and recommendations as well as audit report presentations.
- Participates in review of other auditor's work including technical review of work papers and draft reports, and participation in extended review team meetings.
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of administration and management, including but not limited to budgeting, accounting systems, management controls, purchasing, personnel administration, and contract administration.
- Some knowledge of principles and practices of auditing, laws, ordinances, and other requirements governing municipal accounting, budgeting, and administration.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Master's degree in public or business administration, accounting, information systems, social sciences, statistics, law or a related field; OR an accredited Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, economics, accounting, finance, information systems, social sciences, statistics, or a related field supplemented by 1 year of professional experience in public or government auditing, public or business administration, corporate or municipal finance, budget, program evaluation, research, accounting or a related field. Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
