Full-time position available with the Water Department, Laboratory Division located at 2 NE 32nd Ave
Salary Range: $5,173-$7,759/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Independently manages all aspects of the laboratory and field services inventory.
- Handles complex situations in chemical handling, waste disposal, regulatory compliance and inventory database management.
- Implements and maintains the inventory system.
- Assists in managing the laboratory lead and copper program.
- Acts as a proxy for the field activities manager.
- Oversees, performs, and coordinates environmental activities associated with sample collection and laboratory sample receiving for environmental programs.
- Oversees and coordinates activities related to inventory and storage of chemicals, and supplies.
- Coordinates sampling schedules with other divisions in the department, and with water customers.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in in an environmentally related field such as environmental science, and related physical and life sciences, environmental engineering, and related engineering specializations, environmental law and related legal specializations; environmental studies and related management and public administration specializations; and 2 years of experience as an environmental professional; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. May be required to pass a preemployment drug screen.
Preference given to applicants with previous supervisory expereince, working with a LIMS system or database, handling of hazardous chemicals/materials, and sample collection & field tesitng. Other Information

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
