Position OverviewThe City of Henderson is looking to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Deputy Director in the City's Department of Utility Services.
Under broad direction, plans, organizes, manages, and directs engineering and operational activities for the department of Utility Services; performs complex administrative and professional work in the formation and implementation of strategic initiatives; serves in the role of Acting Department Head in their absence; and performs related duties as assigned.

Note: Pursuant to the Henderson City Charter, this is an unclassified position not covered by the City of Henderson Civil Service Rules. This means that the incumbent's employment is at-will, and may be terminated with or without cause or notice, at any time by the incumbent or the City. Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Science, Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field
- Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience managing technical and/or operations programs in a water and/or wastewater utility environment, at least five (5) years of which included working in a management/supervisory capacity
- Registration as a Class IV Professional Operator (PO), or Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Nevada within a discipline applicable to the water and/or wastewater utility industry, or State of Nevada Water, Wastewater Treatment or Distribution Grade IV Certification (or equivalent)
- Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
- Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six (6) months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
- Employee will be expected to complete assigned training courses through the City of Henderson's learning management system
- All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by state and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained at incumbent’s expense
- Employee must maintain certificates and licenses for the position in good standing as a condition of continued employment
- Desirable: Possession of an appropriate State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator Certification
