Job Summary Salary:$20.28 - 25.86 HourlyPerforms specialized work in the area of recreation and leisure services. Responsible for performing activities of average difficulty at an assigned recreation area. Under general supervision, the employee performs tasks that include leading, supervising, and officiating at a variety of sports, games, and programs. Assists in administrative procedures involved in the design and conduct of recreation programs. May be responsible for a City of Orlando-wide program and may work out of several centers of different levels. Exercises some initiative and independent judgment in planning and conducting playground or center activities for all ages. Work is reviewed through periodic observation by a Regional Center Supervisor while in progress and through reports submitted. Some work is performed outdoors, and the employee is exposed to weather conditions, including heat. Work at night and on weekends required. This position differs from a Recreation Specialist in that the position is assigned to a regional center and the employee in this class serves as assistant supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years experience in organized recreation and/or leisure services
required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License
required at the time of application. Polygraph and criminal background check
required. Some college coursework desired.
This is a full-time CONTRACT position with the same benefits as Regular full-time. Most contracts are renewable for terms of one year. - Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
