    Job Location: Southeast Missouri- This position covers the following counties: Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Dunklin, Iron, Madison, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscot, Perry, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, St. Francois, St. Genevieve, Stoddard or Wayne.

    Candidates must be domiciled or be willing to relocate to one of the bolded counties.

The Division of Animal Health develops and implements animal health programs to improve and protect the health of Missouri's livestock.     • Maintain records, conduct data entry, and produce reports when requested.
    • Learn and understand laws and regulations overseen by the Division of Animal Health, Disease Control program.
    • Conduct official inspections of livestock markets, slaughter establishments, hatcheries and/or breeder facilities to ensure compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations; identify violations and recommend corrective measures to owners or managers.
    • Conduct meetings with private veterinarians, livestock owners and producers, market operators, dealers and other interested groups to explain and promote state and federal animal health statutes, regulations and programs.
    • Assist with other Animal Health Division personnel and private veterinarians performing health inspections at the Missouri State Fair, local livestock exhibits and large exhibitions throughout the state.
    • Attend emergency management meetings as well as necessary and assigned training.
    • Employ skills which aid in proper investigation of complaints, including proficient writing skills.
    • Perform other work as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Four (4) or more years of professional or technical experience which affords some knowledge in agriculture, animal science, or animal health industries, and animal welfare requirements. Required experience, knowledge and skills may be obtained through direct work experience or through the completion of a relevant bachelor’s degree program.
    • Must have a valid MO Driver’s License.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong work ethic, ability to stand on his/her feet for long periods of time, computer skills, technical writing, and reading comprehension are qualities this employee must possess.
    • Able to maintain and demonstrate a professional, positive attitude.
    • Able to work independently, set weekly schedules, and to manage time efficiently to complete tasks and meet deadlines, and also work in a team environment.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and establish good working relationships with producers and stakeholders.
