    A charming lakeside community in the scenic Texas Hill Country, the City of Jonestown stretches across 7.6 square miles and is home to nearly 2,500 residents. This “Gateway to the Hill Country,” offering breathtaking views, rolling hills, and varied topography, is ideal for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful, picturesque environment. Originally founded by the Jones Brothers in the 1930s, the city has grown from a weekend getaway destination to a thriving residential community.

    The City of Jonestown is a Texas General Law City operating with a mayor-council governance structure. Its mayor and five council members are all elected at large. In addition to setting policy and budgets for the organization, elected leaders appoint the organization’s City Administrator, City Secretary, and City Attorney.

    The City of Jonestown is seeking a strategic leader ready to guide the city’s development and collaborate with a supportive community as its next City Administrator. Appointed by the Jonestown City Council to carry out policy and ensure exceptional city services are delivered to the entire community, the City Administrator serves as the organization’s chief executive officer and is responsible for overseeing daily operations, preparing the annual budget for council’s consideration, implementing the strategic goals outlined in the 2023 Comprehensive Plan, and recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff.

    A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in public administration, business administration, or a related field is preferred, with master’s degree desirable. Texas Registered Municipal Clerk certification is a plus. Candidates with a combination of education and experience may be considered.

    Candidates should also have at least four (4) years of responsible experience in an administrative position or related field, as well as experience with modern office procedures, equipment, and software. The selected candidate must maintain a valid Texas driver’s license and a good driving record throughout their tenure.

    The City of Jonestown anticipates a starting salary of +/- $150,000 for this position alongside a comprehensive benefits package.
