    ITSD-DMH has an opening for a Data Specialist. In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop complex SSIS packages and SQL agent jobs that make data available to users of our data warehouse and applications and assist users with their own data queries as a member of an agile, well organized team. You will also have the opportunity to design databases, performance tune applications and assist with migration to the cloud while you grow your skill set in a positive environment. You will have the chance to deliver meaningful impact supporting DMH and the citizens of Missouri.

    This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Department of Mental Health (DMH).

    • Develop and maintain ETL processes using Microsoft SSIS and SQL agent jobs.
    • Develop and support complex stored procedures and custom functions.
    • Analyze, solve, and correct production issues and provide documentation.
    • Communicate with business users to establish database and SSIS package requirements.
    • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment using Agile methodology.
    • Analyze, design, develop, peer review, test and implement code for projects.
    • Create, adhere to and enforce technical standards.
    • Design databases needed for applications, warehousing or reporting solutions.
    • Performance tune stored procedures and queries.


    The ideal candidate will have the following technical and soft skills:

    • SQL Server 2016/2019 preferred.
    • Development of SSIS packages, SQL agent jobs and complex stored procedures.
    • Familiarity with Azure and/or AWS cloud platform.
    • SQL Server query performance tuning.
    • Design of databases, including relationships, indexes, views, tables and fields.
    • Familiar with Azure DevOps and Agile development concepts.
    • Strong data investigation and problem solving skills.
    • Knowledge of data warehousing, data architecture and design concepts with practical experience in the implementation of these concepts.
    • Be self-motivated and have the desire to continually develop new skills and improve existing skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and organization skills.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • 5-8 years of information technology experience with emphasis in data management or data integration required.
    • Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
