THE DEPARTMENT The
County of Orange , Registrar of Voters , a nationally recognized and award-winning agency, is responsible for conducting elections, verifying petitions, and maintaining voter records in the County of Orange, the fifth largest voting jurisdiction in the United States with 1.8 million active registered voters. The department receives funding from the County's General Fund and periodic reimbursement from the federal government, the State of California, and local jurisdictions. The Registrar of Voters' staff includes 56 full-time employees and numerous extra-help employees who support various election-related positions representing the broad spectrum of Orange County's population. The department is responsible for all components of election management.

THE OPPORTUNITY Under general supervision, the Warehouse Worker III is responsible for all aspects of mail at the Registrar of Voters. The Warehouse Worker III will lead the daily collection of office mail, train and lead a team to sort all incoming ballots by delivery of more than 1.8 ballots per election, develop sorting and mailing database schemes, and troubleshoot issues with machinery while working with vendors for repairs. Additionally, the Warehouse Worker III is responsible for maintaining and deploying all voting equipment for the Registrar of Voters. This includes performing service and maintenance on approximately 4000 components of the voting system, preparing the equipment for use at Vote Centers, inventorying all the voting equipment, and ensuring the correct equipment is delivered to the correct location.
Examples of the primary duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Collecting and sorting mail using multi-level, industrial mail sorting machines.
- Developing procedures, including processes and utilization of technology, for ballot sorting, ensuring all ballots are accounted for properly.
- Preparing ballots for mailing using automation to ensure the lowest postage rates, full-service delivery, electronic submission of documentation, and seamless delivery.
- Performing leadership of teams to accomplish the sorting and mailing utilizing multiple industrial sorting machines simultaneously.
- Communicating with multiple departments regarding mail sorting numbers and categories.
- Troubleshooting machines and software while working with vendors for repairs.
- Assembling components of modular offices and workstations.
- Performing minor repairs to renew or replace existing parts or parts of a facility for maintenance purposes.
- Participating in the annual physical inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Maintaining the warehouse to ensure a clean and clutter-free environment.
- Receiving, tracking, monitoring, and maintaining inventory in the warehouse.
- Developing processes to maintain voting equipment.
- Training staff on maintenance of voting equipment.
- Ensuring quality management practices are followed to ensure all equipment is prepared accurately.
- Utilizing database technology to track inventory of the voting system components.
- Tracking unique serial numbers on each piece of equipment.
- Ensuring State regulations and vendor use procedures are followed.

Eligible List Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates.
