Wake County residents. Our department has 111 staff and a $59 million annual budget dedicated to serving residents and businesses in
Wake County. The services we provide are organized into four Divisions:

This
temporary position will support deposits and cash receipts for the
Animal Services Division (820 Beacon Lake Dr, Raleigh, NC 27610) and
Solid Waste Division (Waverly F. Adkins Office Building Raleigh, NC 27601). Candidates will receive, reconcile, prepare and submit deposits to local banks. After deposit, they will prepare a cash receipt document and post it into the
County financial system.
The position will also assist
Senior Accountants in paying invoices after they are reviewed by division staff. Part of making deposits requires physically taking the deposits to nearby banks via car. Since a
County vehicle is not provided for this position, the successful candidate must possess reliable transportation. However, the position is eligible for receiving mileage reimbursement. Parking at the
Animal Shelter is available at no charge. Downtown parking will be provided in the
Wake County parking deck at a charge of $25/month.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Four years of experience in accounting
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - At least five years financial work experience in medium to large organization supporting operations through budget monitoring/forecasting and finance purchasing/invoicing/payments
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field (business administration, finance, public administration, etc.)
- Four years of experience in accounting, finance, or business administration
How Will We Know You're 'The One'? - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, Teams) and others
- Knowledge and experience with budgeting and accounting systems
- Ability to manipulate data and determine key drivers
