The City's Retirement Services Department is seeking an individual whose values align with the values of the City's employees. The mission of the City's Retirement Services Department is to provide quality services in the delivery of pension and related benefits and maintain financially sound pension plans.
The Office of Retirement Services (ORS) is looking to fill one (1) Part -Time Student Intern (Unclassified) position.

$15.32 - $21.88 Hourly This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.
Reporting to the Investment Officer (IO), the Intern will complete special projects to help manage the investment strategies for the City’s Office of Retirement Services (ORS) . The ORS oversees the City’s two Defined Benefit ( DB ) public pensions, as we ll as two associated health care trusts. The Intern may assist in research ing investment strategies, firms, and the market in general. The Intern may also assist with ad-hoc projects in the implementation of the plan’s strategy.
Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to completion of high school and current enrollment in an accredited college or university in undergraduate or graduate program.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing operation of a motor vehicle in the state of California may be required in performing job duties.

Part-time positions(less than 40 hours per week) are required to participate in the City’s PTC 457 Deferred Compensation Plan per Federal regulations. Employees are required to contribute 3.75% of gross earning and the City contributes a matching amount of 3.75%. The funds contributed by the City are 100% vested upon initial deferral and will be held in in a stability of principal investment. This plan is in lieu of social security and does not include any healthcare benefits or contributions.
Part-time employees may elect to contribute additional retirement savings through the City’s Voluntary 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. Additional Information on both plans can be found on the
