    Join the City of Grand Prairie as an Undergraduate intern, working under the guidance of experienced professionals to support projects requiring moderate expertise in specific administrative or technical areas.     • We are looking to fill 2 vacanices for this position

    • The position will be year-round from May 2025 to June 2026.

    • Hours will be up to 19 a week consistently through June 2026.

    • Will be primarily assigned to assist with all Workday implementation efforts through assisting the City Manager’s Office with implementation efforts and activities, including validation, creating training guides, working with Project Manager’s to review and follow-up on issues logged by the project team, helping departments with daily operational issues, and filling in for departments to help answer phones and help customers.

    • The ideal candidate is a team player, eager to learn, works independently and with confidence in taking on challenges in unknown areas and producing high quality work. The City expects accuracy, ability to work well under pressure, take constructive feedback to grow, and be willing to balance many tasks and deadlines in a high paced environment.
    • Candidate should be able to shift priorities daily and as needed due to the high-paced environment of the project. Dependability and reliability are key. Work is on site and not remote.


    Essential Job Functions

    This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.

    This position has responsibilities that require lifting up to 10 pounds on occasion.
    • Assists department staff with daily tasks such as entering data into the computer; ensuring forms and documents are completed and accurate; conducting and completing research; processing various forms and documents; collecting and posting payments; and preparing various reports.

    • Completes routine office duties by answering phones; transferring calls and taking messages; processing mail; filing; typing various correspondences; and maintaining office supplies.

    • Provides customer service by providing information and directions as requested; receiving payments; and assisting customers over the counter.

    • Create marketing, public relations, advertising, web design, social media and/or graphic arts for assigned department using Word, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, etc.

    • Completes special duties as assigned assisting with special events and special projects.

    • All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager within your department/division.

    • Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality for the assigned work hours is essential.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
    • Education: Must have a High School Diploma or GED and currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

    • Experience: None.

    • Licenses: Valid Driver's License required.


    For city employees who are regular part time (10-19 hours per week) or seasonal hired placed on City payroll, the following benefits are provided:
    • PARS - Public Agency Retirement System: the employee contributes 6.2% each paycheck to this retirement system and the city provides 1.3%. The employee does not pay into Social Security. All of the employees contributions may be withdrawn upon separating service from the city. The City's contributions will not be paid unless the employee retires under the system.
    • Part time or seasonal employees are not eligible for any paid leave or other benefits.
    • Part time or seasonal employees are limited to working only 1,000 hours per 12-month period, unless the seasonal is project based for a specific period of time which is typically less than 12-months.
