    The Position

    This recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time vacancy for the classification of Information Systems Specialist, which may be filled at the I or II level depending on the qualifications, for the Help Desk Team at the Information Technology Services (ITS) Division, a branch of the County Executive Office, at Napa County. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.

    Napa County Information Technology Services (ITS) is a branch of the County Executive Office that provides technology services and solutions to all 18 County departments, as well as a range of technology services to five special districts within the County. Each of these functional areas and special districts provide their unique services to the Napa County community and ITS plays a strategic role in fulfilling technology needs in support of these varying businesses.

    About the Position of Information Systems Specialist I/II for ITS Service Desk:
    • Pay Range for ISS I: $43.65 per hour (Step 1) - $52.02 per hour (Step 5)
    • Pay Range for ISS II: $49.71 per hour (Step 1) - $59.53 per hour (Step 5)

    The current vacancy is for the ITS Service Desk group. This position will be administering end-user support on a variety of computers, printers, and other devices, over the phone and on-site. The ideal candidate must have strong problem-solving skills, customer service skills, and experience working in an Enterprise Environment performing hardware and software maintenance, replacement, and installations. The ideal candidates will need to be well-versed in the administration of Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office 365, and Microsoft Active Directory and Azure. Additionally, the ideal candidate will understand business requirements and communicate those requirements to the Information Technology Services (ITS) Management team; perform technical work on information technology projects; plan, develop, and test computer systems and applications; analyze user requirements to implement solutions to meet their business needs.

    Telework Availability - Teleworking is not permitted during the first six (6) months of employment and/or during the first six (6) months of a probationary period. Should teleworking be permitted by a hiring department after the 6 month requirement, the County supports a telework schedule that consists of a maximum of two (2) days per week.

    Position Requirements for the Information Systems Specialist I:
    To qualify for the Info Systems Specialist I classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:
    • Experience: None required.
    • Education: Equivalent to graduation from college with major course work in data processing, computer science, graphic design, or a closely related field, and minor course work in business principles. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.


    Position Requirements for the Information Systems Specialist II:
    To qualify for the Info Systems Specialist II classification , an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:
    • Experience: Two years of programming, systems, and/or Web design and development experience in a governmental or business operation.
    • Education: Equivalent to graduation from college with major course work in data processing, computer science, graphic design, or a closely related field, and minor course work in business principles. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    License or Certificate:* A position assigned to this class may require possession of a valid California Driver's License.

    SALARY -
    Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
