The Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) is an emergency services provider that serves 369 square miles of Yavapai County, Arizona. CAFMA is a powerhouse, operating ten full-time and two reserve stations. CAFMA’s service area is stunningly diverse, nestled between the majestic Bradshaw and Mingus Mountain ranges, with elevations soaring from 4,300 feet near the Verde River to 6,500 feet in Highland Pines. The Agency proudly serves approximately 100,500 residents across Chino Valley, Prescott Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, and numerous unincorporated communities like Paulden and Williamson Valley, making up a vital part of central Yavapai County. The Agency is on the hunt for an exceptional and forward-thinking leader to step into the role of Fire Chief. This is a unique opportunity for a visionary, collaborative, and motivated individual who can connect with and inspire the Authority’s diverse community. The ideal candidate will possess sharp analytical skills and the ability to make critical, data-driven decisions.
This is a high-impact leadership role requiring extensive experience and a compelling vision for the future. The successful candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree, although a master’s degree is strongly preferred, as well as the professional designation of Chief Fire Officer (CFO) or Executive Fire Officer (EFO) to demonstrate a commitment to excellence and professional development. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a chief officer in a large municipal fire department or fire district is essential, ensuring the new Fire Chief is equipped to manage complex operations and lead a dedicated team. The annual salary range for the Fire Chief is $167,869 - $228,789; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
