Budget Officer . Under administrative direction, the
Budget Officer is involved in developing budgetary and financial strategies, preparing and monitoring the budget, monitoring cash flows, and developing justifications for budget recommendations and actions. Budget Officers are responsible for multiple facets of large departmental budgets, which are comprised of complex funding streams. Additional duties include the development and projection of tax/fee revenues, maintaining records for payables and revenues, preparing audited financial statements, creating monthly reports and estimates, and developing/preparing documents for publication and/or Board approval. The Budget Officer also supervises, assigns, and evaluates the work of administrative and fiscal staff. This position reports directly to the Finance Officer.

Minimum Requirements Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, accounting or finance, or other relevant field of study.
--- AND --- Experience: Two (2) years of professional-level work experience with primary responsibility for analyzing, interpreting, and making recommendations to management utilizing budget/financial analysis of funds/budget units, cost centers, contracts, grants, or organizational structure.
NOTE: Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess five (5) years of experience developing and maintaining budgets for multiple divisions in an organization, with strong team dynamics skills. Experience with governmental accounting systems and terminology, especially with the SAP accounting system and the SAP budget preparation module is highly desired, as is demonstrated experience with strict deadlines of monthly reports and year-end projections. In addition, the preferred candidate will have strong research and analytical skills, coupled with strong written and oral communication skills.
