IntroductionMcCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is home to the valley's premier destination for all things trains. About the Position:The Recreation Leader II oversees, plans, and conducts recreation and related activities at a Park, and/or Neighborhood Community Center in the Community Services Division.
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $24.79/hour . Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience- No education required for this position.
- A minimum of six months experience in a customer service position.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements- Successfully complete first aid and safety classes.
- A valid food handler's license ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire or promotion is required for the Concessions Assignment.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/section assignment.
Essential FunctionsPerforms duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
- Plans, organizes, and conducts special events, games, sport activities, birthday parties and arts and crafts for children of all ages, and adults.
- Communicates effectively in person and on the telephone with patrons and/or program participants.
- Observes patrons and program participants in order to maintain discipline, order, and crowd control at activity site.
- Sets up, tears down, and cleans up for special events, projects, and programs.
- Maintains safety and security of facility, including all aspects of recreation, planning and programming.
- Performscashier duties including greeting customers, handling inquiries, accepting payment of fees, handling cash according to City policy and procedures, issuing passes, and completing all necessary reporting and record keeping documentation.
Work Environment/Physical Demands- Move objects up to 50 pounds a long distance (greater than 20 ft.), such as setting up tables, sound and lighting equipment, booth frames, and lifting trash bags with assistance.
- For some assignments, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with assistance, bend, stoop, stand for long periods of time, and scoop ice cream requiring repetitive arm/hand movement.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
- Visual and muscular dexterity to enter data or information into a terminal, personal computer, or other keyboard device.
- Operate a motorized vehicle.
- Workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
