    Full-time position available with the City Planning Department, Administrative Services located at 414 East 12th Street
    Salary Range: $24.77-$37.16/hour
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    Responsibilities

    The Development Concierge Service Group guides customers through all phases of the development process. This position will provide general development assistance with an emphasis on urban agriculture.
    • Serves as a point of contact for the urban agriculture community for questions related to zoning, permits and other regulations critical for site development and operation.
    • Works in collaboration with the Office of Environmental Quality connecting constituents to resources that support the development of local food systems.
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with contractors, design professionals, associates, municipal officials, community representatives, developers, and members of the public.
    • Provides verbal and written information related to resources on the City's website and navigation to relevant online applications.
    • Maintains project records in software databases along with other public records and makes reports as required.
    • Performs the more complex and difficult assignments requiring considerable program research, analysis, evaluation, and design skills.
    • Performs duties under the direction of a division head.
    • Exhibits reasonable independence, resourcefulness, and initiative in executing assigned duties and responsibilities.
    • Performs related duties as required.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in economics, sociology, multi-disciplinary social science or urban affairs, urban planning, public or business administration, engineering, or architecture; OR high school graduation and 4 years of professional experience in economic or community development work, planning, building codes administration, engineering, architecture, or neighborhood development programs. Preference given to those with knowledge or experience in horticulture, agribusiness or agricultural science.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
