    Introduction

    San Joaquin County Correctional Health Services is seeking a full-time, board-certified adult psychiatrist to provide mental health treatment at the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp, CA. The mission of Correctional Health Services is to provide exceptional whole person healthcare for our underserved population. Join a multi-disciplinary team providing essential mental health services while providing evidence-based treatments and measurement-based care.

    Highlights:

    • Regular and predictable schedules, including rotating on-call expectations, with excellent support staff on-hand
    • Treat a wide variety of cases, with ample opportunity for patient education and follow-up
    • Perform psychiatric evaluations, and provide psychiatric consultation and treatment for incarcerated persons
    • Work collaboratively with the mental health staff, medical staff and pharmacy staff to ensure delivery of high quality, reliable mental health treatment

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.

    • Board eligible in Psychiatry, board-certified preferred.

    • Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in California.

    • DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.

    • Experience in forensic psychiatry or correctional healthcare preferred.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Board-certified in Psychiatry.

    • Experience with substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions.

    • Comfortability with electronic health records (EHR) systems.

    • Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to correctional healthcare.

    Selection Procedures

    You are applying for a position in Correctional Health Services, which provides health care to adult inmates at the San Joaquin County jail facility. A candidate must successfully pass the security clearance, initiated through a background investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office. The background investigation requires the completion of an extensive questionnaire called “Personal History Questionnaire” and is used by the Sheriff’s Office to conduct the background investigation. The security clearance is a mandatory condition of employment, and the loss of the security clearance will result in termination from County employment in accordance with the rules and regulations governing County employment.
