Why you’ll love this position: The MO HealthNet Division (MHD) is seeking applications for a Privacy Officer position within the Data Management Office (DMO) located in Cole County. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state Medicaid privacy regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other applicable laws. This role serves as the organization’s subject matter expert on privacy matters related to Medicaid data, leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of privacy policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Medicaid privacy regulations, HIPAA, and organizational standards.
- Process MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) and DUA (Data Use Agreement) requests.
- Assist in annual privacy reviews, including reviews of agency business associates to ensure appropriate privacy safeguards are in place.
- Assist with any audits related to privacy policies and procedures.
- Lead the response to privacy incidents involving Medicaid data, including investigations, mitigation, reporting, and documentation.
- Attend and actively participate in required meetings.
- Assist supervisor and with special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
Preferred Qualifications: - Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare privacy, compliance, or legal affairs, with at least 2 years focused on Medicaid programs.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA and CMS regulations, and state-specific Medicaid privacy rules.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Expert ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders from all levels within multiple public and private organizations.
- Experience with regulatory audits and investigations (e.g., CMS, OCR, state Medicaid agencies) strongly preferred.
