Maintenance Trainee positions. This is a great opportunity to join the City and gain hands-on experience in field maintenance work that directly impacts our community spaces. Current vacancies are available in the
Parks & Recreation Department and the
Public Works Department.

These are part-time extra-help positions. What You’ll Do:Parks Facilities MaintenanceThis position will perform maintenance tasks at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Responsibilities include washing decks, vacuuming and sweeping pools, cleaning tiles, wiping down tables, cleaning debris, checking pool chemicals, and conducting equipment maintenance.
Urban ForestryThis position will primarily drive a City vehicle along a designated water route, filling water bags for newly planted trees, ensuring trees are properly staked, and conducting light weeding of tree wells.
Street MaintenanceThis position will support a variety of street maintenance tasks, including assisting with roadway repairs, cleaning and clearing debris, sand removal, storm drain maintenance, and maintaining sidewalks and curbs. Duties may also include driving responsibilities and performing other related fieldwork to help maintain the City’s infrastructure.
These positions are part-time, extra-help, temporary, and paid on an hourly basis. They may require working a rotational schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Experience and Qualifications for Success! Combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Desirable: related experience and knowledge of common tools used in landscape maintenance and plant care, and the operation of small motorized equipment.
License: Certain positions may require the ability to obtain and maintain a valid California Class C driver's license.
