About the Role:As a Business Systems Analyst, you will be instrumental in all elements of solution delivery. A significant portion of this role will focus on project management, process development, organizational change management (OCM), training, and business analysis. Your work will impact all sections of Tacoma Water, requiring a comprehensive view of the organization's needs and how they align with the strategic plans of Tacoma Water, Utilities Technology Services (UTS), and the City of Tacoma. You'll contribute directly to our mission by developing clear business requirements, efficient processes, and successful project deliveries that improve our operational effectiveness and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:- Project Management & Support: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinate system/business enhancements with cross-functional teams, track progress, provide updates, and act as a primary contact for system/process issues.
- Business Analysis & Process Development: Assist in formulating strategic plans and departmental policies. Develop, recommend, and implement solutions/processes, assessing and quantifying benefits and impacts. Serve as a system expert for your workgroup and section.
- Technical Requirements Gathering: Conduct thorough business and technical requirements gathering for diverse projects, considering current systems and future technological growth. Translate business requirements into technical designs, collaborating with the team on implementation, testing, and commissioning. Draft detailed requirement specifications and wireframes.
- System Monitoring & Analysis: Proactively monitor and analyze system processes to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement, efficiency gains, and cost optimization. This includes enterprise system support, customer relations, and issue resolution.
Qualifications Minimum Education* Bachelor's degree public or business administration, information technology or directly related field
Minimum Experience* 2 years of analytical and/or functional analyst, user support or database maintenance work in area related to assignment
*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
Desired Experience Experience with Smartsheet, MS Office Suite , SharePoint, data visualization tool s (e.g. Lucid Chart, Tableau, etc.) , SAP Solutions, and Atlassian (Jira Service Management/Jira/Confluence).

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
