    Full time position available with the General Services Department, Corporate Safety and Risk Management Division located at 414 E 12th St.
    Salary Range: $7,268-$10,902/month
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

    Responsibilities

    This is highly complex and responsible professional work overseeing, directing and supervising the administration of the employee safety and health service programs for the City. This position will have some oversight of various risk programs.
    • Plans, implements, coordinates and enforces a comprehensive plan to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, accidents and financial losses.
    • Develops a City-wide safety policy and priorities.
    • Reviews and evaluates City-wide safety training programs, and coordinates a City-wide safety committee.
    • Directs the preparation of various reports related to exposure factors concerning occupational safety, risk or illnesses for information to the Chief Risk Manager.
    • Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed by the Chief Risk Manager for demonstrated program effectiveness and the extent to which it achieves the objectives and goals of the City-wide safety and risk programs.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES Accredited bachelor's degree and four (4) years professional experience in safety, health, or environmental work. The experience may be waived upon presentation of the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation or the Certified Industrial Hygiene (CIH) designation; OR Accredited associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience in safety, health, or environmental work; OR High School graduation and eight (8) years professional experience in safety, health, or environmental work. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
