Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 9:00AM - 6:00 PM* *Subject to Change* DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions is Houston's municipal animal shelter and adoption center. BARC is looking for three applicants that possess:

RESPONSIBILITIES: - Work consists of following up and resolving all customers' requests accurately, investigating specific situations, ensuring all are resolved professionally and adequately while providing detailed transcripts in the system to track all work.
- Educate the public on all current BARC information (Adoptions, Spay/neuter, Wellness, Registration, etc.)
- Collects, balances, and deposits daily revenue from daily transactions using shelter software in compliance with established financial accounting procedures.
- Compiles and maintains accurate reports and data entry records of services rendered.
- Records accounts of exchanges as well as original correspondence to customers.
- Works on special assignments and at organized events to promote BARC and educate citizens within the community.
Performs other special duties and projects as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS: This position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of standing, stooping, bending and/or light lifting of materials up to 10 pounds,
reaching over-head at times, swift walking and work in indoor/outdoor weather conditions. Minor discomforts of some animal odors.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or GED required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two years of administrative or customer service-related experiences are required.
An Associate’s Degree may be substituted for the two-year experience requirement

PREFERENCES**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. ** Preferences shall also be given to those with the following: Candidates that possess excellent customer service skills.
Working with the public; and working with animals.
Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc.
One year of animal handling or related experience.
