Please note the job posting may close without prior notice. ** Current vacancy is in the Parks, Recreation & Community Services DepartmentPositions in this classification work in a variety of divisions in the Public Works, and Parks, Recreation and Community Services Departments. Examples of duties in each department are listed below.
Positions assigned to the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department: Duties include assisting in turf maintenance in City parks and landscaped area using lawnmowers, power edgers, and other tools; assisting in picking up and disposal of trash and debris from roadsides, parks, and other areas; operates a pick-up truck.
Positions assigned to the Public Works Department: Duties include assisting in repairing asphalt failures by cleaning and filing potholes or cracks in streets, sidewalks or curbs; uses a variety of power tools such as pressure washers to perform graffiti removal at city facilities.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
Training and Experience: Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be: Six months experience in the use of common hand and power tools and performing manual labor for lengthy and continuous period of time.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURESApplicants must receive a passing score on all examination components in order to be placed on the eligible list. - PERFORMANCE TEST (weighted at 40%): To measure ability to perform semi-skilleed tasks. (Tentatively scheduled for the week of August 4, 2025, and/or August 11, 2025).
- APPRAISAL INTERVIEW (weighted at 60%): To evaluate training, experience and personal qualifications. (Tentatively scheduled for the week of August 4, 2025, and/or August 11, 2025).
