The County Attorney's Office is seeking a
Legal Office Assistant, able to provide
reliable, dependable, part-time in-office clerical assistance and administrative support. The ideal candidate is responsible for assisting paralegals, primarily those on the Human Services Litigation team, as well as supporting the Office Manager. This person must be self-motivated and detail oriented. The candidate must have proven ability to move between diverse tasks with ease and thrive in a high-energy, collegial environment.
SCHEDULE: This is a temporary non-exempt hourly position that has the option to operate on a 4 or 5-day work week, 20-25 hours per week. This position has the opportunity for some remote work, as well as required in-office work.
COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $25.00 - $28.00 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.
BENEFITS: Please note that this is a temporary, non-benefited position scheduled to work approximately 20-25 hours per week. There is no holiday pay. Employees are able to earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Legal office administrative support work includes, but is not limited to:
- Document preparation, including proofreading, redacting, scanning, and copying
- Answering, screening, and returning telephone calls
- Maintaining legal and confidential files
- Scheduling and calendaring court deadlines
- Processing court orders
- Data entry and report generation using legal matter management software
- Communication with clients, the courts, the general public, and government agencies
- Administrative support as needed to the Office Manager
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a professional or office setting.
- Experience in a legal office.
- Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- High attention to detail when proofreading/correcting written reports.
