    The Park Services Team Lead is responsible for supervising the maintenance of the Jefferson County Open Space (JCOS) park amenities and development. Supervise employee and technician tasks. Schedule maintenance and repair tasks. Prioritize staff and work load. Schedule and perform park inspections. Respond to employee and public inquiries. Schedule vehicle and equipment maintenance.

    SCHEDULE:

    The position requires work to be completed on-site.

    COMPENSATION:

    Hiring Range: $27.00 - $33.00 USD Hourly

    Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
    • Assign and direct tasks. Conduct performance evaluations. Approve timesheets, ensuring appropriate paperwork is generated. Ensure safety precautions are taken.
    • Perform basic janitorial duties for park maintenance including cleaning and restocking of public restrooms, removal of bags from trash collecting receptacles, cleaning grills, safe removal of hot ash, picking up litter on park grounds. Requires driving from park to park.
    • Upkeep, repair and improvement of park amenities such as: fences, picnic tables, grills, picnic area surfaces, trash receptacles, shelters, signs, kiosks, benches, retaining walls, stairs, campground tent pads, lantern holders, fire pits, bear proof food boxes, boot brushes, bike racks, fishing piers, dog waste bag dispensers, equestrian hitching posts, map boxes, etc. Troubleshoot and resolve issues using power and hand tools, heavy equipment, surveyor equipment, sanding, painting, staining, manual labor, and transportation of materials. Mitigate vandalism and graffiti on Jefferson County Open Space parks.
    • Install, construct and replace park amenities such as: fences, picnic tables, grills, picnic area surfaces, trash receptacles, signs, kiosks, benches, retaining walls, stairs, campground tent pads, lantern holders, fire pits, bear proof food boxes, boot brushes, bike racks, dog waste bag dispensers, equestrian hitching posts, map boxes, etc. utilizing power and hand tools, heavy equipment and surveying instruments.
    • Upkeep, repair and construct roadways and parking surfaces including asphalt, natural surface, gravel and permeable pavers. Perform roadway maintenance including grading, crack sealing, lot grooming, lot striping, asphalt patches, application of sealers, paver pavement analysis, parking stops, parking lot delineators, placement and installation of signs, the transportation and application of materials (such as road base).Install and maintain storm water management devices.
    • Maintain trees, grasses and weeds through application of herbicides, tree trimming and removal using chainsaws and pole-saws for aesthetic or safety reasons. Chip material. Mow and string trim grasses and weeds. Repair and upkeep of irrigation systems.
    • Install and maintain erosion control devices and complete common practices for re-vegetation.
    • Assist with and lead snow removal activities or heavy snow cleanup as needed with equipment operation.
    • Perform vehicle and equipment inspections. Address all irregularities to maintain safe and productive use. Perform in field repairs of vehicles and equipment when necessary and within the scope of the position. CDL positions required to perform pre-trip inspection before operating commercial vehicles.
    • Interact with the public and vendors through effective oral, written and electronic means. Act as a reference for park users. Provide emergency response and public assistance for search and rescue and first aid response, as needed. This position presents ideas, information, and recommendations to assist in solving customer service issues. Contact and maintain correspondence with utility locators.
    • Respond to department inquiries. Communicate with co-workers and public to solve problems. Report concerns to necessary sources. Plan department meetings.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Three years of experience with landscaping, maintenance, or a related field.
    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certificate required.
    • Note an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.


    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Prior supervisory experience.
    • Herbicide Applicator Certification within 1 year of hire.
    • Will be required to obtain a CPR certification within 6 months of hire.
    • Pre-employment physical is required.
    • Pulmonary Function and Respirator Fit Test at hire.
    • Class A CDL is preferred at hire but may be required within one year of hire.


    ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION:
    • Offer of employment is contingent on passing a criminal history, MVR check, and physical exam.
    • Must have a valid driver's license. If from out of state, applicant must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license within 30 days of hire date.
    • You must not have any major motor vehicle violations, nor DUI, DWI, DWAI in the past three years.
    • Current Jefferson County employees must apply through their employee profile in Workday.

    • Stormwater certification will be required within one year and the position will assist with the planning and inspection of assets to support the program and schedule.
    • May be required to obtain a Flagger, Traffic Control Supervisor, and Erosion Control certifications.
