    The Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) is seeking a Coordinator II to join our Wastewater Operations Division to provide industry-specific coordination and support. The position requires physical presence at the treatment facility five days per week, Monday-Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Alternative schedules may be approved after completion of probation.

     

    This position performs highly specialized roles in offering planning, support, and coordination of technical tasks in support of the BES O&M Group, Operations Division. Additionally, this position has a focus on document management, project coordination, and division-wide communication. Other activities performed by this role are varied and include a rotational on-call coordinator requirement.

     

    Under general direction, the coordinator plans, schedules, organizes, communicates, and supports work in the operation and maintenance of state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant; creates, updates, and maintains documentation related to the proper, efficient, and safe operation of wastewater treatment systems and facilities; provides and plans program support and participates with internal and external stakeholders while performing related duties as assigned.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Develop and modify preventative maintenance (PM) schedules as appropriate for specific Operations work units and shifts.
    • Assess, edit, prioritize, and filter work requests generated from Operations to various crafts.
    • Develop, coordinate, implement, evaluate, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Oversee the use of internal communication software; analyze data, identify gaps, and coordinate work to resolve issues.
    • Participate in internal and external customer service relating to odor complaints, facility tours, and community educational outreach opportunities.
    • Participate in the oversight, monitoring, and coordination of needs associated with contracts and interagency agreements.
    • Organize, coordinate, and implement the orientation and training overview of the Wastewater treatment processes for new and current employees.
    • Performs On-Call Coordinator rotational duties.
    • Utilize computer applications; SAP, Synergen (Oracle Product), SCADA, INFOR, OMLog, and SAP for management of timekeeping, work requests, requisitions, communications, and asset management.

     

    The Operations Division is organized into the following work units:

     

    • CBWTP Liquids Treatment: This work unit is responsible for the 24/7 operation of the general liquids processes, including the management of collection system flows coming into the plant as well as the headworks, primary treatment, secondary treatment, disinfection, and effluent process areas.
    • CBWTP Solids Treatment: This work unit is responsible for the 24/7 operation and management of the anaerobic digestion system and associated gas users; solids thickening and/or dewatering process areas.
    • CBWTP Special Operations:This work group performs vital maintenance/cleaning work onsite during the day shift, including collection and delivery of compliance samples; lagoon dredge operations, and operational preventive maintenance activities (i.e., gate/valve exercise program). Along with providing relief (vacation and leave coverage), and support for other programs when needed.
    • TCWTP Operations: This work group reports directly to the TCWTP and is responsible for the operation of all treatment process areas at the facility. Staff work day shifts with minimum staffing onsite Saturdays and Sundays. TCWTP is remotely monitored from CBWTP outside of the day shift.
    • Biosolids Land Application: This team works to provide year-round scheduling for and monitoring of the eastern and central Oregon land application program.

    Applicants must specifically address and demonstrate in their supplemental question responses and resume how their education, training, and/or experience meet each of the following minimum qualifications

     

    1. Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, including the operation of process control equipment, troubleshooting techniques, and laboratory procedures.

     

    1. Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving, and self-initiative skills.

     

    1. Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate the work of a team of wastewater professionals.

     

    1. Ability to communicate, logically, and persuasively, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to prepare concise and comprehensive reports, correspondence, and other forms of communication.

     

    1. Skill in providing guidance and training to staff.

    • A valid state driver's license and acceptable driving record at the time of hire.
