    JOB SUMMARY

    JOB SUMMARY
    Under general direction of the Community Enhancement Initiatives Manager, assists with improving the perception and well-being of the community by supporting Community Enhancement programs, projects, and events, and assisting with resource recovery programs, projects, and events. Supports the coordination of Community Enhancement education programs and assists in the development of educational outreach materials.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DECISION MAKING

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists with research and implementation of Community Enhancement programs, projects, and events, such as neighborhood improvement programs. Assists with Keep San Marcos Beautiful programs.Manages and coordinates the Adopt a Spot program.Develops and implements an education curriculum for various age groups.Plan, develop, and organize partnerships with schools, teachers, and community organizations.Supervises and trains interns and volunteers.Assists with natural disaster debris management. Creates and update maps as needed. Creates marketing materials and assists in the management of social media platforms.Assists with certification, award and grant application submittals. Other duties as assigned.
    DECISION MAKING
    • Must be self-motivated, responsible, and reliable.
    • Must possess solid organizational skills and be able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Trains and supervises volunteers and interns.
    • Manages and coordinates several projects, simultaneously.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications)

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Education or related field.
    • Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of three (3) years in volunteer coordination and program development. A commensurate combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
    • Must know basic GIS.
    • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

    JOB DIMENSIONS
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required; must be able to maintain positive working relationships with City departments and personnel, outside agencies, and the general public.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Knowledge of ArcPro.
    • Knowledge of TEKS or knowledge of curriculum development.
    • Must be able to teach environmental education lessons to various age groups.
    • Must have knowledge of equity analysis and practice and be able to work with diverse communities.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
    Physical requirements include lifting up to 40 pounds occasionally. Subject to standing, walking, lifting, carrying, vision, hearing and talking frequently, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing and foot controls occasionally, and crawling rarely. Working conditions involve working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
