Join the Wake County Board of Elections as a Department Systems Supervisor, where you will guide our Desktop Support Team in supporting both internal staff and thousands of Precinct Officials across the county. In this role, you’ll combine technical knowledge, resource planning and customer service to help deliver secure, efficient and well-supported elections in Wake County.
Essential Functions: - Supervise and manage two Desktop Support Technicians who provide customer support to department staff and technical support to Precinct Officials at Early Voting and Election Day locations
- Collaborate with the Department Systems Manager, internal teams and external stakeholders to coordinate IT operations for elections and office support
- Oversee internal support tickets and ensure timely resolution of technical issues impacting the department’s staff or election operations
- Plan and implement the imaging, deployment and configuration of employee and Precinct Official laptops
- Develop IT support schedules and task timelines to ensure complete coverage during election cycles and daily operations
- Manage inventory of IT equipment and supplies, track usage and coordinate timely procurement and maintenance
- Oversee the setup and distribution of IT equipment for Early Voting sites and Election Day polling locations, and assist with onsite setup when needed
- Coordinate with other Board of Elections teams to ensure alignment of technology with election planning and deadlines
- Promote a positive and proactive customer support culture within the IT team
- Identify opportunities to improve technical processes, streamline operations and build team capabilities
About Our TeamThe Wake County Board of Elections is responsible for conducting all elections held in Wake County. The Board locally administers state and federal election laws. Principal functions include establishing election precincts and voting sites; appointing and training Precinct Officials; preparing and distributing ballots and voting equipment; canvassing and certifying the ballots cast in elections and investigating any voting irregularities. It maintains voter registration and participation records and provides public information on voters and elections. This position is in-person and will work at the Board of Elections Operations Center. We support a million Wake County residents and ensure elections are accessible, transparent and fair.
The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field.
- Two years of experience in business systems administration.
- Six years of experience in business systems administration may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Experience supervising or mentoring technical staff
- Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and relational databases
- Experience developing support schedules, managing inventory and planning technology operations
- Experience with project management in a technical or government setting
