This position serves as the digital product manager for Metro.net, responsible for leading the site’s redesign in partnership with an external vendor and overseeing its long-term strategy, content, accessibility, and performance.

Examples of Duties- Manages and oversees the production of highly visible projects created by Metro's Marketing Design Studio
- Manages, organizes, and creates production schedules for all incoming communications, marketing, and advertising job assignments
- Interfaces with agency partners, Metro's Print Shop, Marketing Communications, contractors, and outside vendors to schedule jobs, coordinate delivery instructions, and ensure that the final product meets Metro's quality standards
- Negotiates timelines with Communications Department and other clients
- Manages all current job traffic and reports status utilizing job tracking software to enter, update, and close jobs
- Conducts regular traffic meetings with staff to review the status and delivery of each job
- Meets with management to provide regular status reports
- Prepares specifications for print and other outside production
- Performs web jobs, press checks, and inspects bluelines and/or color proofs for accuracy, quality, and completion
- Reviews current literature and maintains expertise and familiarity with technological developments
- Provides proofreading and distribution support as required
- Assists in planning, developing, and implementing departmental goals, objectives, and plans; participates in the development of annual department budget and work plans
- Prepares reports and recommendations to management and outside vendors
- Ensures quality control and digital production preparation
- Participates in management meetings and decision-making processes to identify problems and solutions
- Writes scopes of work and manages vendor contracts, collaborating with Metro's procurement staff as necessary to secure qualified vendors
- Approves and manages contracts with outside vendors
- Creates estimates and contract task orders; initiates and tracks purchase orders
- Specifies production methods when necessary on contracted work
- Maintains a variety of forms that track the progress of various projects
- Reviews incoming invoices, matches them against open purchase orders, and provides necessary documentation in order to approve the invoices
- Provides proofreading and distribution support as required
- Supervises, trains, and motivates assigned staff
- Communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the agency's safety vision and goals; and maintains accountability for the safety performance of all assigned employees

Minimum QualificationsA combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:
Education- Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Art, Advertising, or a related field
Experience- Six years of relevant experience or three years of relevant supervisory-level experience in marketing, communications and/or content production management; some positions in this class may require specialized experience in area of assignment
Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
- Occasional use of graphic equipment such as knives, paper-cutters and chemicals such as glues and solvents
